Manager of a matrix team: ensures project timelines, budget, and resources are accounted for in order to successfully execute the strategy set forth in Japan.
Facilitates accurate and complete timeline/budget/resource forecasts and gaps and provides specific suggestions/proposals to overcome the challenges and needs.
Responsible for guiding the local team through the annual budget planning process by working closely with the global team and work with the Portfolio Asset Strategy liaison in Japan as well as global reps to derive a valuation story.
Drives the team to evaluate strategic options by using tools that include drivers, assumptions, etc.
Guide the local team through appropriate governance processes and necessary review/approvals by working closely with the local and/or global team. Be an expert on processes and train individuals (including junior PMs) as necessary.

Scope would include all expected project manager responsibilities within a given project.
Projects assigned would consist of series of early phase/late phase/complicated projects that include partners.
Communication with the global team is a must and should take place on a daily basis, or as necessary.
Training on relevant processes (global & local) is mandatory and requested to be communicated to the assigned teams, as appropriate.
Utilizes available Risk Management methodologies to proactively identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
Participates in and drives the planning and coordination of an accurate interdisciplinary development plan, taking a leadership role in preparation for the DP documents (as they pertain to BMSKK assets) and presentations materials.
Communicates clear and accurate timelines and recognizes/ explains scope evolution.
Is knowledgeable of project budget and proactively works to resolve issues to negotiate optimal solutions, works effectively with people at every level in the multiple matrix organization.
Drives the team to evaluate strategic options.

Serves as management’s objective source for “Key Project Issues” and identifies gaps in plans.

Gathers data from past projects to determine best practices and shares lessons learned within the team and organization.
Ensures optimal execution against the plan and consistency with the BMS Product Development and Commercialization process. This requires an understanding of both scientific and commercial issues, as well as efficient resource utilization in a multi-project environment.
In the case of Alliance projects, works productively and effectively across companies to drive the drug development process and achieve both internal and Alliance team objectives
